Tracking Activity in MediaLab
MediaLab gives you a single place to monitor everything happening in your Lab; file activity, user actions, shared links, uploads, and reporting. All of this lives under the Activities button, located next to Settings in the top navigation.
Clicking Activities opens a panel organized into several sections, each focused on a different type of tracking.
Active monitoring
At the top of the Activities panel, you can see what’s happening right now:
- Active users – view which users are currently active in your Lab.
- Active uploads – see ongoing uploads in real time, broken down by user.
- Active livestreams – monitor any livestreams currently in progress.
Workflow manager
The Workflow manager section provides a complete overview of files and actions moving through your Lab:
- Incoming items – all files that have arrived in your Lab.
- Video queue – the status of videos currently being processed.
- Push queue – a record of files sent to external push destinations.
- FTP uploads – activity from FTP upload accounts.
- Comments – an overview of comments left on items.
- Webhooks – the status and history of webhook activity.
Use the Workflow manager when you need a centralized view of file flow and processing within MediaLab.
Share
The Share section lets you review activity related to specific folders and links. If someone has viewed or downloaded files through a link you created, the activity appears here:
- Personal links – activity on links shared with specific individuals. Because each personal link is tied to a known user, you can track their actions in much more depth, including who viewed or downloaded which files and when.
- Signup links – activity on links that require recipients to sign up before access.
- Public share links – activity on links open to anyone with the URL. Tracking here is more general, since recipients are not individually identified, you’ll see overall usage information rather than user-specific actions.
- Embed links – activity on links used to embed content elsewhere.
Upload links
The Upload links section tracks activity on any links you’ve created to receive files:
- Upload links – see when and by whom files were uploaded.
- Upload signup links – activity on upload links that require a signup.
Reporting
The Reporting section gives you higher-level insights into your Lab’s usage:
- Media overview – a summary of media activity across your Lab.
- Account – account-level usage information.
- Access reports – reports on who has accessed what.
- Media reports – detailed reports on specific media items.
Note: Some Activities sections may only be available to administrators or users with the appropriate permissions.
