# Why audio files appear in the audio queue

All incoming audio files are automatically processed by MediaLab’s transcoding system to ensure browser playback. Non-MP3 files are converted into **MP3 format**.

If the source file is already an MP3, it will not be transcoded.

During this process, MediaLab also scans the file for metadata such as **artist, album, and track name**.
