Supported file types
MediaLab is built with the media industry in mind, so video is at the core. All uploaded videos are processed by our transcoding farm to create versions optimized for online playback without requiring downloads.
In addition to video, MediaLab also supports:
- Audio files – converted for online playback.
- Images – processed for online viewing.
- Office documents – such as PowerPoint and Word, converted into viewable formats.
Other file types, such as ZIP archives, can be uploaded and shared but cannot be previewed online. Recipients will need to download them to access their contents.
Video Formats
By default, MediaLab generates MP4 H.264 versions with bitrate options between 500 kbit/s and 5 Mbit/s. However, the backend is flexible, and custom formats can be created on request.
- Example: some clients use an automatic MPEG-1 low-resolution version for translation.
Advanced Options
For automated workflows, you can also attach custom transcoded versions of your files. This allows you to manage specialized formats alongside MediaLab’s default processing. If you require this setup, contact our support team for guidance.
